    I'm a workaholic ... [NOT!!!]

I've been busy with work this past week. Darn, even I can't believe it. But God made it easy for my dear brother and I. I guess, HE knew [always] that our Uncle Boss can't deal with work lately that's why HE doesn't let it come to a point that our U.B. will have to go to the workplace. Praise God. YEAH. Amen to that. I still have a two more work days [Monday and Tuesday] left, I pray that I get to finish it all in time. Yeah. Godbless everybody.

    Toy Kingdom...

My sister and I went to the mall last night. Bought a few magazines. Checked out Toy Kingdom, so many nice toys, no money to burn. We saw some gift ideas to give to our cousins, nieces and nephews. I saw a Magic 8 Ball, I wanna have one. I asked a question, then I shook it and it answered: YES, DEFINITELY...so, with that answer, I think, I'm gonna get that 8 Ball sometime soon. [hehehe] Finally, ate at KFC. I love KFC. Got home in time for The Gilmore Girls. Gotta love this show. Why the show or the lead actress Lauren Graham [as Loreilai Gilmore] hasn't received an award is beyond me.

    Mrs. D...

Found out last night that my former High School teacher died of breast cancer. She was a very nice, approachable and charming lady. Always smiling. Always giving us encouragement. She was malambing. Death is inevitable as we all know it but why are we always taken off-guard when it happens? Life is such. May you rest in peace Mrs. D.

    Mandy Moore Mania in Manila...

I didn't like her when she first came out with Candy years ago. But after seeing the video of I Wanna Be With You from the movie Center Stage [the hot dancer guy in the vid helped too], I must admit I liked the song eventhough I wasn't into the singer.

The following year, she came out in her own movie, A Walk To Remember, watched it, fell in love and bought the soundtrack, I still have to read the book where the movie was based, she could act though need more training. Cry is my favorite in the soundtrack.

November this year, her album Coverage came out here in Manila. My sister got a copy. I must say, I lovelike the album. She did a good job on most of the songs. Even introduced me to new "old" songs. My favorite would have to be Senses Working Overtime and Moonshadow. You could give her CD a try. You might be surprised and like what you hear. Her Candy days are way over.

I'm a twenty-something person who likes an almost twenty-year old singer. Hah. Nothing wrong with that right? Music is ageless. [Hmmm...]

    Mariah in Manila...

My sisters and I watched the Mariah gig last Sunday night. It was a long wait. We got there around 4pm-ish. I don't know why we got there early but my sister J [the Mariah fan] insisted that we be there early. Surprisingly when we got to the venue, a lotta people were already there. Hmmm. I'm not really a Mariah fan but I'm familiar with most of her songs coz my sister plays them non-stop whenever she's cleaning the room or something. My most favorite song of Mariah is Breakdown [which unfortunately, she didn't perform.]

Anyhoo, it was a sight to see a lot of Mariah fans all in one place, creating a positive vibe, cheering/screaming at the top of their lungs. I can see myself in them when I watched the Alanis Morrissette/The Cranberries/Duncan Sheik gigs. It was FUN to see them.

What can I say about Mariah performing live? She can sing. She's a tease. She's the epitome of "if you have it, flaunt it" without it being vulgar. She's sexy [I'm pretty sure a lotta guys liked her clothes, she had a number of wardrobe changes]. Most of her songs are positive, uplifting songs. I actually like My Saving Grace. Will look for the lyrics of that and post it here sometime. All in all. It was a good show. My sister J enjoyed it so much. I guess, everybody went home happy. [Even the cellphone snatchers....that's another story...tsk tsk tsk...]

Check out the detailed Mariah concert news from www.inq7.net.

Had dinner. Took my shower and last but definitely not the least went to church. And my weekend is complete. Tomorrow is the start of yet another working week. Haaaay. Life is such.

    By The Way...

  • I FINALLY got myself a new mobile phone last week. It's a Nokia 2100, I wanted to have the 3100 [it glows in the dark] but my money wasn't enough. I'm okay with my new phone. Glad to have it. You can put a 2x2 sized pic at the back and my four year old cousin Nadine's mug is there now. Makes me smile everytime I look at it.

  • Went to Loyola Cemetery last Sunday for our yearly All-Saints/Souls Day tradition. It was a good day.

  • 2 Sundays have passed without playing badminton with my HS friends. I'm looking forward to this Sunday's game. Yay.

  • Missed the third episode of Twisted radio last Monday, went out and played badminton with my sisters and cousins. Sweat Galore.

  • I forgot to time the VCR for last night's Everwood, badminton again. I love this game.

  • Today, is technically a Thursday, where did the 3 work days go? I'm not complaining though. My weekend will be quite eventful. Lunch 'til you drop, more like like lunch/dinner 'til you drop at Tita Tess. I hope the EBC will all make it there. The presence of the Queen who's still in Switzerland will be missed.

  • On the work front, God is making it easy for us. We got a Greenlane on our entry. Another shipment is expected to arrive today. Thank God. INDEED.

She's my magazine fairy. Always helps me find those magazines that I wanted to buy. Ask my friends. They're the ones who named her for me. Hehehe. I'm happy.

    A Pleasant Surprise...

I attended my highschool reunion last Saturday night. And it went fine. It was a pleasant surprise. Around 60 batchmates were there. Some people I didn't particularly liked in HS but seeing them again after 10 years, the resentment is not there anymore. I guess, 10 years of not seeing them made it easier to forget that you didn't like them back in HS. hehehe. Most of my batchmates are guys, I think, we're only 20+ girls in our batch. It was an MALE school 'til a few years before I entered that highschool. I guess, the guys were either surprised or happy that they now have classmates who are females.

After 10 years, the guys still look the same and acted the same only now they gained weight and got taller. The guy I wanted to see didn't attend the event. Oh well, maybe next time.

    Years After...

Last night [or a just hours ago], I had dinner [pizza baby] with three people [Leila, Mike and Angel] I met thru a college publication. It has been 7 years since the last time I saw these people. It was nice seeing and talking to them again. We had good times back in Dataline. It was short but good times nonetheless. Leila and Mike met thru Dataline. They've been together for 7 years. They're getting married next month. They have a kickass invitation. They made it themselves. The seal is like the one on Harry Potter only with their initials. Coolness. I want a gold seal with my initials too.

Tonight, I'll be attending our 10th year high school reunion party/after dinner gathering. I hope it'll turn out fine. I hope someone I wanna see will be there. I have no expectations just good vibes.

My fellow clearbook aficianado Irene will make it on November 8th or 9th. Yay. See ya soon Starshine.

    Weekend...

I spent my Saturday in Megamall. Lunch at La Piadina [yummy Carbonara and chicken piadina] with friends [Pia, Pau, Annings, Tricia, Owi, RB, Rix, Eth, Noelle, Lorrie] from the SS mailing list. Bought a few CDs [FRIENDS soundtrack; Paula Cole's This Fire; Northern Exposure soundtrack; Soraya's On Nights Like This; Bush's Golden State] that were on sale [Php 150each CD...good buy if you ask me]. Met my sister at Powerbooks/Tower Records, Paolo Santos was there for an autograph signing, my sister and I didn't know he'd be there so she didn't get to bring her CD. Mr. Acoustic performed a few songs from his album and he's sporting a new blond do. Hmmm.

We saw a poster for a performance of the Akafellas, my sister and I decided to watch it and miss Gilmore Girls in the process. It was worth missing one of our favorite shows. The Akafellas are great performers. They sing acapella. Pop-capella like one fella said. They are really interesting to watch. You have to see them live to know what I mean.

Lite Switch [a new acoustic four man band] fronted their gig, they were ok, need more showmanship though. Highlight for me was when they performed George Michael's Faith. Superb rendition. I love acoustic performances. Yeah.

My Sunday was the usual: badminton with highschool [we'll have our 10th year "reunion party" on Saturday, I hope to see someone in particular, hope he comes, just wanna see how he'd changed 10 years after...] friends, lunch at a friend's house, took a much needed nap and went to church. My 4-year old cousin Nadine made me smile tonight. I love that kid. She's growing so fast. God bless all the children in the world.

    Not Gonna Give Up...

As suspicions arise that my dearB might be onto something again. I pray to God that he shed some light on him and let us not give up on him. Heartbreaking when someone you care about is in a not-so-good of a situation. That you can't just make all the hurt go away. Prayers are needed. Oh God. Please. Let us be strong for him. Let us not give up on him. Eventhough it's not easy. Amen.

    Darn...

A few weeks ago, while in my cousin's car, I got to listen to a new radio station which plays mostly acoustic songs. I kinda like the songs that was played. BUT the thing is, I know who the owners of the said radio station. I mean, I don't know the owners personally but I know something about them that made me dislike them. I stopped listening to the radio since April of last year. For reasons I won't bore you with. This is nothing really. Crap. I'm not making any sense.

    Freshly Made...

I decided to make an icon/banner of sorts for my blog. It's always been just the words Thinking Out Loud, well, it's still the same words but done in PHOTOSHOP [hah!], that's all I can do in PHOTOSHOP. It's a start. I LOVE the shade of violet/purple. Ahhh...next up, I should be updating my site. Yeah. I have some time in my hands since work is rather light nowadays. Hate and love it at the same time.

Last week, I stayed home most of the time, I watched 14 episodes of ALIAS season 1. I have two discs to go. Gotta love yummy Michael Vartan. I sometimes wish I am Sidney Bristow.

    Not Happening Again...

On the homefront: my brother is...I think doing something that is not good. His wife called our house last night. Told my Mom that my brother should stay with us for the meantime coz she can't handle him anymore. Darn. My brother is 26 years old. Not a kid anymore. He's a father to a two-year-old already for crying out loud. He knows what's wrong from right. Why does he keeps slipping? Years ago when we moved to another location, I thought he'd be clean. I thought taking him out of the place we used to live in would help him. But I was wrong, he again...met people [in our new location] who does the same thing as he did. Now, years after, I thought he was clean. I thought he learned his lesson. I thought he'd change. My trust in him is forever broken. There's always a doubt. I learned to be tough on him. I mean, whenever he'd borrow money, saying it's for his kid, I'd call my sister-in-law and asked if it's true. Most of the time, it's not. So, even if I have money, I don't give it to him. It's just so hard to accept it sometimes. I mean, he's my brother. I want good things to happen to him. I can't prevent/protect him from the world. Such crazy world we live in. I just want him to be free from this "situation" that he's in. I think, he's brain has been affected by what he's done before. I just pray to God that he'd help my brother get through this. Prayers.

*That's why I'd never touch a cigarette or drink alcohol. It's a start for other evil stuff to come in. I'm not saying it applies for everybody. It's just on me.

    Church Songs...

I attended mass last night. The service was ok. The only thing I didn't like about the service was the choir. They sang the church hymns in a different tune. Making it kinda hard to sing-along even though you already know the song. Why would they do that? It's like changing the tune of the national anthem. Sheesh...Oh well. I know that's not the reason why we go to church but it's hard not to feel a little peeved about it. Have a fine weekend to us.

Emmy's in a matter of hours. Yay. Results will be posted here asap.

Alone Time on a Saturday Night...

Left home around 6PM-ish to watch a movie from CINE EUROPA at Megamall. Went to my usual stops once I got there:

    1st Stop @ Powerbooks/Tower Records - some new CDs I saw :
[JMayer's new CD is out...10 songs only...darn...I think, I will be patient this time and wait for the special edition CD]
[Vienna Teng's Waking Hour...this one I wanna have eventhough I have her songs in my MP3 collection already...good stuff...she's on my CDs-to-buy list]
[Maksim's Piano Player...this guy is good...saw a performance on MYX one time {even taped it} ...whoa...he is indeed a piano player...]

2nd Stop @ Filbar's - just browsed thru back issues of magazines, was looking for the JANE August ish. Not available yet.

3rd Stop @ BOOKSALE - found and bought DETAILS back issues, April and May 2003, Vin Diesel and Ewan McGregor on the covers, respectively.

4th Stop @ Department Store Stationery Dept. - to look for more back issues of EW, US, PEOPLE, JANE...didn't find anything that I particularly liked.

*** saw an ad for the September sked of live music at the MegaStrip...Acoustic Dream were scheduled to play that night. Chose live acoustic music for a foreign movie.***

5th Stop @ Sbarro - went in line for my baked ziti with white sauce and pizza dinner. cheese pizza wasn't available at that time. darn. settled for ziti and garlic bread. an almost-famous person was next in line...the R&B singer JayR [he's cute and he's very courteous. he speaks Filipino] and a guy friend. I got seated. Next thing I knew, JayR was asking if the seat next to mine was occopied, I was chewing my garlic bread so...I just nodded...he even asked "ok lang ba?" [hahaha!] I would have asked for his autograph if I had the guts but since I didn't...I finished my delicious ziti and made my way to the Megastrip.

6th Stop @ Dairy Queen - dessert is a must. yeah. had myself a large strawberry-oreo blizzard. it's the flavor of the month. I wanted to try a new flavor. It wasn't bad. I'll order my usual rocky road flavor next time.

7th Stop @ Seattle's Best - used their restroom. bought a bottled water.

8th Stop @ Megastrip tent thingy - got myself a seat. smokers on my left. female smokers. chain smokers at that. how can people smoke one after another is beyond me. second-hand smoke blowing in my direction. I transfered to a table where there were no occupants yet. free from second-hand smoke.

    >>> I will vote for someone who could/would have a NON-SMOKING bill to ALL [and I mean, ALL] public establishments. Sorry to the smokers who are reading this one. Smoking causes heart and lung problems. My dad had a triple-heart bypass last March. Smoking was the big factor. After 5 months, my dad is back smoking...behind our backs...as if we don't know. He doesn't listen to our request for him to quit. Hard-headed man. My dad is. [SIGH!!!]

** Sean Paul's Get Busy was playing while as I write this entry...yeah, I love the guy...will post a picture of him soon.

    Friday Five

    1. Who is your favorite singer/musician? Why?
I have quite a number of favorite musicians. I like them for different reasons. The way they sound, the way their lyrics go or just the way their song hit me.

    2. What one singer/musician can you not stand? Why?
    Hmmm...The Cheeky Girls. I just don't.

    3. If your favorite singer wasn't in the music business, do you think you would still like him/her as a person?
I'm not sure because I don't really know them outside their music personas.

    4. Have you been to any concerts? If yes, who put on the best show?
Yes. my top 5 would have to be: Alanis Morissette, The Corrs, Stephen Speaks, Roxette and Color Me Badd.

    5. What are your thoughts on downloading free music online vs. purchasing albums? Do you feel the RIAA is right in its pursuit to stop people from dowloading free music?
I download songs to preview. If I really like it then I'd buy the CD. Yes, they have the right but it's a global thing, it's hard to stop nowadays.

    Still Thinking...

if I'm gonna make this my main page since I can't keep my personal site updated. Hmmm... it's not a dilemma. It's fairly simple. I'm just making it a big deal for now. [hehe]
Will just take it a day at a time.
If my title changes from THINKING OUT LOUD to MY UTOPIA Ver.2.0, you'll know that I've made up my mind.
So many things you learn online.
    Just trying to be creative.
    I wanna learn more.

    Poster Wall...

This is how my wall looked back in highschool.
One time, my sister and I thought we'd put movie ads for a change, I think I have a picture of that too.
That was 10 years or so ago.
New Kids On The Block was a big thing when I was in HS.
There was a time, that I'd change it on a weekly basis [it's an art form too]. Cork board is a great invention.
If you don't have a cork board, improvise, use a styrofoam.
Worked for us back in the day.
Nowadays, we still have a posterwall, my sister "artistically" posted black and white ads.
    Nice touch.
I'd take a picture of our recent wall one time.

    Oh well...

I fell asleep while watching Six Feet Under last night. Then, next thing I knew the power went out. That was around 12:30AM-ish my sister told me. It was raining a few hours before the power went out but it was still hot and humid. I think the power was out for a few hours. I was up 'til about 2:30AM-ish or so. Just waiting for the good old electricity to come back. When it did I was deep in slumber. I didn't even get to turn on my electric fan 'til I got up around 5AM-ish. OH WELL...I'm still sleepy but work is a must for today. Have a fine mid-week. Godbless.

    Taken...

Last Tuesday, an unfortunate thing happened to me while I was on my way to work. I was robbed/held-up or whatever you might wanna call it. All I know is that someone held a knife against me and he took my mobile phone, watch and a few cash. IT wasn't one of my favorite moments. This is the second time that I felt really helpless and scared caused by a stranger. It's very unexpected. [Of course, you don't expect to be robbed right?] It's a rush of mixed feelings. I know I'm lucky that I wasn't hurt in anyway. Though, I was shaken up after it happened. The second he announced that it was a held-up, everything was in fast forward motion all of a sudden. I tried to be calm and I think I was. I even asked for my SIM card, which he did take out from my phone only it fell out of the tricycle that I was in. Oh well... I'm just glad that I'm ok. I can replace those stuff that was taken away from me. All in time. God is great.

    36 WAYS TO REDUCE STRESS...

    1. Pray
    2. Go to bed on time.
    3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.
    4. Say NO to projects that won't fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health.
    5. Delegate tasks to capable others.
    6. Simplify and un-clutter your life.
    7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)
    8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.
    9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time; don't lump the hard things all together.
    10. Take one day at a time.
    11. Separate worries from concerns. If a situation is a concern, find out what God would have you to do and let go of the anxiety. If you can't do anything about a situation, forget it.
    12. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary purchases.
    13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key
buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.,
    14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent an
    enormous amount of trouble.
    15. Do something for the Kid in You everyday.
    16. Carry a Bible with you to read while waiting in line.
    17. Get enough exercise.
    18. Eat right. Drink right. Remember to drink more than 8 glasses of water everyday.
    19. Get organized so everything has its place.
    20. Listen to a tape while driving that can help improve your quality of life.
    21. Write thoughts and inspirations down.
    22. Every day, find time to be alone.
    23. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot. Try to nip small problems in the bud. Don't wait until it's time to go to bed to try and pray.
    24. Make friends with Godly people.
    25. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.

Woke Up On The Wrong Side Of The Bed...

First of all, I woke up or rather was forced to try and get up coz my right leg was cramping painfully. [AS IN] It hurt. I can't even move my leg. I was just trying to let the pain go away. I swear I can feel the muscles in my leg moving or whatever...it was painful. I was in pain for almost 30 minutes. On and Off. And it's not the first time this has happened. From time to time, it would happen. AND only on my right leg. Is this an early sign of a rheumatism [spell check]?

Second, I was looking for the CDs I bought recently and found out my sister brought them to her office again. Haaaay. I am this close to hiding my CDs. Oh well...

Fourth, discovering that my dad is smoking again...haaay...he just came from a heart bypass for crying out loud. I am angry coz he doesn't seem to care about the people who care about him. Especially my relatives from the US who came up with $5000 so he could have his operation. I have this feeling of resentment towards my parents about it. Haaaay.

I don't wanna cry about it but I feel crying about it. Sheesh. I have to get out of here.

Read it and weep...well not really...

I started reading FIREBIRD by Janice Graham last Sunday and finished it earlier today [around 4am-ish]. Anyhoo, it is basically a love story. Started rather slow but it picked up after several chapters. It even made me shed a tear or two. And it's not a tear-jerker story but I guess, I'm just a cry-baby. I read it at home, at work, in bed...read it whenever I had free time. Which I haven't done in while. I have quite a number of books to read. You can check out my mini-library for the books that I have/haven't read. Which reminds me, I have to update that list...hah!

    Handle With Care...

I don't have a lot of CDs. But the ones I have I bought them with my own money. I don't get to buy a lot. Once a month at least. The thing is, when some people borrow my CD, I expect them to take good care of it. My sister has been borrowing my CDs and bringing it to work. I am fine with that. The thing is, lately, she's not been taking care of them that much. One time, she brought to work my Jason Mraz CD [which I just bought the day before] and she spilled coffee on the CD sleeves/cover and all, good thing the CD was in her CD-Player at that time. I was peeved when she told me about it. I even told her not to bring my CDs to work anymore. Of course, I was half-joking at that time. And now, upon inspection on my other CDs awhile ago, some of them have this sticky feel on the CD sleeves/cover too. Sheesh. I will not asked my sister about it anymore. It just might start an argument. I hate arguments. Now, I'm thinking of locking up my CDs. Hah. Like that would happen. But I just might. Oh well...

Today is the start of the Holy Week. I will try my best to be Holy. How can one be Holy? Hmmm...Have a meaningful Holy Week to all of you. Godbless.
    CDs and then some...

Last night, I went to a CD store. While there, I saw quite a number of CDs that I wanted to buy. The thing is, I didn't have CD money. Dang. But I did buy the limited edition Norah Jones CD.

Next on my list is Daniel Bedingfield or the soundtrack of Smallville...and a Meteora CD for my sister.

A friend I met thru Stephen Speaks mailing list told me that Jason Mraz will be here sometime in June if things go as planned. Yay. My friend asked me if I could help sell tickets. And I said yes. I would if I could. [hehehe] She also told me that Ari Hest and/or Duncan Sheik might be there too. Triple yay. I wanted to suggest if he could get Jamie Walters, I will tell her next time. [hahaha]

If you're reading this right now and you happen to like Mraz, let's all watch it alright? I am gonna save money for it now. I want a good seat. Yay.

I Wanna Go On A Work Hiatus...

I really do. Maybe, a month or two. The thing is, if that happens, I don't even have money to cover my time off period. Haaaayyyy. Life...sometimes it's fun, sometimes it's not. BUT I love my life still. God gave me this life and I'm trying to live it...one single blessed day at a time. What I want is a vacation. Tell me about it.

    I cooked it my way...

I've never cooked anything in my life except for the occasional fried stuff and rice. [thanks to rice cookers for that] Though, a while ago, I tried to cook something. Well, it's not really complicated. Just pork, tomato sauce and soy sauce. Was afraid it will not be edible but my cousin told me it tasted ok. It actually did. [hehehe] Maybe I should have added potatoes or carrots. Hahaha. Maybe, next time, I'll try and make my favorite dish, Sinigang, yeah, that would be something.

    Doing OK...

Sunday, I donated some blood for my dad's heart bypass operation. I was hesitant of the thought at first but when I got there, I thought, why not right? I looked away while blood was flowing out of me. I am not afraid of needles just the sight of blood. They make me queasy. And my monthly discharged doesn't help it as well. I guess, it's just psychological. I am type A. I think, I would donate blood again if the need arises.

Tuesday, my dad's operation started around 4pm, lasted til about midnight. He is doing ok. So far, so good. The doc said "he should get better after this..." [plus a smile on his face]...That is good right? I have been praying that my dad will continue to get better as days go by.

My THANKS to all those who prayed for my dad and for us too. I really appreciate them. Takecare and Godbless.

I hate the way you talk to me,
    and the way you cut your hair;
I hate the way you drive my car,
I hate it when you stare.

I hate your big dumb combat boots,
And the way you read my mind.
    I hate you so much it makes me sick;
    It even makes me rhyme.

I hate the way you're always right,
I hate it when you lie,
    I hate it when you make me laugh;
Even worse when you make me cry.

I hate it that you're not around,
And the fact that you didn't call.
    But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you;
Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.

Catcher In The Rye. I have to have a copy of this sooner than soon.
