I Miss Doing This...

It's been some time since I posted on here. Facebook games took most of my online time. ;) I haven't forgotten this blog. I will always have this blog, me thinks. This is a place I can just go on and on about anything and everything. I hope to get more updates on here. We will see. If you're reading this. Thank you for your time. God Bless.

Blast from 5 years ago...

The following is an e-mail from the past, sent through FutureMe.org
It was composed on Sunday, March 12, 2006, to be sent on Sunday, March 13, 2011:
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Hi. Okay, it's March 13th 2006 today. 15 months with NG. SIGH. You met him just a few weeks ago. Celebrated your 14th months together. Celebrated your 30th together. Did a lot of firsts together.

So, when you get this, if you get this, it's been 5 years. Are you two together? Are you living in Nebraska? Do his parents and brother and friends like you? Do you get along with NG most of the time? What are the traits that you discovered [that you love and not love] since you met him? Have "Faith"? Happy? Still in love? Still wondering how you got together and all? Met Jamie? Met some of the members of the Jamie group? Do you know how to drive? Have you gone back to Manila after you got there?...

That was an e-mail I sent to my future self back in 2006. I was unsure of some things back then but reading what I have been questioning years ago makes me feel that I just have to have FAITH. Just have to let go and let faith and God be my guidance. Sure, I still question a few things nowadays BUT I know, my faith will get me through it all. I gotta have faith. I must ALWAYS remember that.

How's your faith? Is it enough to get you through life's ups and downs? I hope so. Let's keep our faiths together. :)

Meeting David Gray...

One of my concert buddies K, won tickets to David Gray on Tuesday [August 24th] from Q98.5. The Q gives their Facebook friends an unfair advantage with their contests by posting what time frame they'll give out tix and what not. Sometimes, they have their contest on their Facebook page. K sent me a text message saying that she'll be taking me to that show. YAY. I was gonna get a ticket but just didn't get around to it. That afternoon, the show was SOLD OUT. Whew. Saved by K.

The next day [August 25th], she won Black Crowes tickets from 101.9. That station also posts on their Facebook page as to when they're giving out tickets. She's one lucky person. :)

On Thursday afternoon, she got a call from Q98.5 that her David Gray tix will not be given to her because she also won tickets from 101.9 which happens to be Q's sister station [which she wasn't aware of]. To make the story short, as per their rule, you can only win once [per household] in 30 days from the radio stations in their family, to give chances to other people. She'll get the lesser value prize, which was the Black Crowes tickets. :( Needless to say, we were both crushed about that news. :(

Now, since the David Gray concert was sold out, if we really want to go, we'd have to pay more than face value for someone who'll sell their tickets, most likely on craigslist. :(

Friday afternoon, K sent me a text message saying her friend's friend decided not to go and she's selling the tickets for half the price. :) Of course, I said YES to that. Tickets secured. We're going to the SOLD OUT concert on Sunday [August 29th].

Day of the concert, Sunday the 29 of August, we got there, secured our seats and waited. K found out via Twitter that Stir Cove will give the last pair of meet & greet passes at 6pm for Ray Lamontagne & David Gray via a hide and seek game. ;) We got excited and kept positive that we'll get those meet and greet passes.

6pm. Stir Cove twitted the picture of this guy, must find him to get the m&g. ;)

I won't tell you how I found him but I did. I've seen him around in events since he's the photographer for omahanightlife, so, I'm familiar how he looks like. ;)

And we met David Gray. SIGH.

He even signed my CD.

I never thought I'd meet David Gray in person. Been listening to him for years and it was surreal [but REALLY nice] meeting him in person. :)

The Eff You song...

This was shared to me via twitter by two musicians, the tune is catchy, the message is clear, it's a song with the F word in it. Growing up, I was told when not to cuss, even until now, I can't cuss out loud but with songs like this, you can get your point across without having to say it yourself no? ;) Happy Friday.

We do...

Two years ago today, I said "I do" to Brian. Being married has its ups and downs like any other relationships but I am happy that I'm married to him. He can be bratty, stubborn and whiny sometimes but that's him, a few bad but mostly good. :) Happy Anniversary to you, happy we survived two years of being together. ;) How many more can we handle? Only time will tell. :)

Ooops...

I went to the DMV yesterday. Didn't take the driving exam though as I planned. Car is having issues. Will try it when everything is okay with the car. I just renewed my learner's permit instead. After the eye exam, I'm positive I NEED glasses or contacts. I was guessing what I was seeing. Mentioning letters when all of them were numbers. FAIL. Big time. I'll probably have my eyes checked on Saturday. Still debating if I'm gonna get glasses or contacts. Hmmm. We'll see.

Met Isaac Hanson after their sold out show last Sunday. I didn't know what to expect from their show, I was impressed. Really dedicated and enthusiastic performers. You can tell they love what they do and they can do it as a family too. :)

Monday, August 02, 2010

Next Monday...

I will go to the DMV and take a driving test. :) I'm excited about it, my husband, not so much. Hee. We'll see. If I don't pass, I'll just have to renew my permit and practice some more. :) Happy August everyone. Next month, will be the start of the BER months. That means, Christmas is fast approaching. ;)

Tuesday Blues...

Working Gurl...

  • Wow, can't believe I haven't posted for a month. I'm still here. Just got busy with work. Yay. I have been working for Y for a month now, been good, the job is not rocket science hard. I am liking it. Also, got another part-time job at the B, and I started last Thursday. I can keep both jobs since their hours are different. I was praying about it and I got it. Thank GOD.
  • Will start saving for our trip back in the Philippines and helping out NG with the expenses here at home. I bought groceries last Saturday, that felt good. :)
  • Whenever I'm online, I can be found on Facebook or on Twitter. I haven't abandoned this blog. My online time just decreased a bit. I am not complaining though. Work = Cash. I'm all for cash baby.
  • Have a good one. God bless.

    Grateful Me...

My belated birthday gifty from Mrs. Cook!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE pens!!!

Last weekend, MajorDad gave me 3 boxes [200 packets per box] of Splenda and more coffee. I still have coffee from the one he gave me last November. I don't know why he gave me multiple boxes of Splenda BUT I am grateful. I'm the only one who drinks coffee here at home. He also gave me Honey Nut Cheerios and Apple Juice. I have a generous father in-law. :)

  • I got the part-time job that I applied for last week. Interviewed last Monday, went back on Tuesday for orientation and I will start on Wednesday. My working hours will be from 6am to 12nn. NG said this is a good start since I've no work experience and background in this country. I have to establish a job history then I can find for a full-time job. I'm happy to have a job, even if it's a part-time job, for now.
  • Last Monday, NG and I went to the Card Factory Outlet, that is my happy place. In time, I see myself spending more than 10 minutes in that place. Hee. So many cards, so little time. I love greeting cards!!!
  • Anyhoo, that's about it for now, will play some poker for now. Have a good weekend. God bless.

    Count Me In...

  • My employment authorization card finally arrived last week. I have updated all my job applications from a while back. So far, I've gotten replies that say they're reviewing my application, some say the position was already filled but they will keep my file for future job opportunities, some just don't reply or haven't gotten around to it. My guess is due to numerous job applicants.
  • One called me last Wednesday and wanted to interview me for today. Last time I've been interviewed for a job was back in 1996-97 for my first job. I'm quite nervous but not like back when in the day. I guess, getting older does add.
  • Whether I get the job or not, I know, it'll be another experience to be added in my work life. Wish me luck. Better yet, say a little prayer for me. That would be appreciated. Have a good week ahead. :)

    And Here I Blog Again...

  • I'm a bad blogger and I know it. I'm not like some people who can blog on a regular basis. I tried doing that before but it didn't work out so well. And I think, I found an answer to quick-blogging without having to worry that you've come up with 500 characters or less. Twitter to the rescue. I've have the site bookmarked since last year but never found the urge to sign up. I finally did. And I see myself updating my twitter account more than once a day. HAH! So, if you're on twitter, I'm on it too. :)
  • Last Friday, my cousin in-law from Jersey called me and we chatted for an hour or so. She mentioned a site that her kids are following, so, I checked it out and needless to say, I spent my weekend watching Happy Slip. My favorite were vids of her visit to the Philippines. It made me miss my family and friends more. The director/actor/writer of the vids explains 'What is a happy slip?'
While growing up, my mom was always quick to remind me to wear a half slip with my dresses or skirts. She would say "Be sure to wear your hap eslip!!". So I grew up thinking the term was always "happy slip", until I was corrected by classmates who asked me if I had a sad slip as well.
  • I'm pretty sure you are in one or more [like myself] of those network sites. I have my relatives here in the USA on my Facebook. I have my favorite musicians on my Myspace. I have my photos on my Multiply. I have my high school and grade school friends on my Friendster. Is that too much networking or what? Whatever. I have time for those things...for now.
  • It's the third month of 2009, how time flies FAST!!! In two months and a few weeks, it'll be my first year here in Omaha. Imagine that. I remember back in the day, I kept telling NG I don't think I'll make it out here but he kept saying, "you will, just a matter of time..." and now, I am here. Good sigh.
  • I think, winter is almost over. Yay. Can't wait winter to be over. I've experienced snow and negative temperatures, let's bring the above 50 degrees temps now. I need to sweat. :)
  • Have a good one. God bless.

    Blackout...

I asked my dear mother to get me this dvd. Jomari was in that show. Enough reason to have it, yes? At least, for me. I miss Bench/Herbench.

    Free Grand Slam...

There's no Denny's near where we live. Tsk tsk tsk. Just heard on the radio that there's a line in getting in. It's 3 degrees right now, I don't think, I would want to fall in line in this cold weather. I'll just have my cheerios and coffee indoors, where it's warm and cozy. If you live in the USA and there's a Denny's near you, go get your free grand slam. :)

    February 2009...

The Australian Open [the first Grand Slam tennis tourney of the year] just ended. Rafa Nadal got the trophy vs Roger Federer in a 5-set match. I love watching tennis, it's the one sport that I follow. Someday, I'd be able to witness a grand slam tourney, I'm not picky as to which one, but the US Open is more likely to happen since I am already in the country. Though, I really want to be in Wimbledon. Someday. Somehow.

NG's co-worker gave us a Crock Pot last December, I tried it over the weekend. Cooked some ribs on it. Turned out really tender to the point that they were separating from the bone. I love it. Tender meat is goody. I know I'll be using this appliance a lot. Whee.

NG and I got to try the Wii last week. We tried boxing. I let him win. Hee. Though, he'll say he beat me. I know better. [wink wink]

  • Missy Higgins is coming to town next month. NG already got us tickets for her show. Howie Day will be in town too. Whee. Been a fan since Collide came out. I'll just hope NG is off that night for his show.
  • NG and I have been following Confessions of a Teen Idol on VH1 mainly because of Jamie Walters but as week goes by, I've realized, with or without Jamie, that show is actually a good reality tv show. One show that is not good but we watch it anyway is, Tool Academy. It's like a guilty pleasure. Hee. That show makes us laugh.
  • American Idol is on once again. NG gives me crap about watching the show but we both know we'll be watching that show if he's home in time for that. Hah. LOST latest season started too, I have to watch the 3 episodes on ABC.com, must see Sawyer. How I missed him.
  • It's a brand new month. Whew. Where did January go? In a few weeks I'll turn a year older [and a year wiser...hee] How time flies, indeed. Just praying my work permit will come this month. Here's wishing you a mighty fine February. God Bless.

My TV Shows Are Singing To Me...

    My all-time favorite TV show.

Only watched a couple of episodes of this show since it was short-lived. The music lives on though, at least for NG and me. He spins this soundtrack every weekend.

    My favorite Mom/Daughter tandem.

This show had two theme songs, I forgot which came first. Both are great songs in my book though. I fell in love with Ed Stevens in this show. Sigh.

Aliens? Sure, why not? I remember they loved Tabasco sauce. This show lasted for 3 seasons. I don't remember how it ended. My memory is bad.

This is the only CSI that I watch, I am behind a season or two though. Grissom is leaving [or already left] this season [9th, if I remember it right]. He will be missed.

I grew up and lost interest in this show after 3 seasons. Lex Luthor is a hottie.

I soooo need to catch up on this show. The 8th season just started and I still have to watch seasons 5-7. This show is not only funny but they have cool songs, I'm like one degree from Zach Braff since I met Joshua Radin last year. Whee.

I watched the first two seasons of this show. I'm kinda over the teeny-bopper shows me thinks. I'm getting old.

    The Notebook...

  • Whenever this movie is on, I can't help but watch it. It's been showing on ABC Family and each time I see that it's on, I have to stay on that channel and watch it. I love this movie. I love the book. I love it. Period. I just do.

"So it's not gonna be easy. It's going to be really hard; we're gonna have to work at this everyday, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, everyday. You and me... everyday." [Noah Calhoun]

  • A few days ago, we had the furnace checked because the flame of the pilot light went out again. The guy who looked at it found cracks on two of the burners/heat exchangers, over time it'll result to Carbon Monoxide emissions. Bottom line, it needs to be replaced. It's an old furnace, made in 1977. We're looking at around 3k++ to have it replaced. It is NOT cheap. NG will have other heating companies come over to give us options, just to compare the prices and get the best deal. Being a home owner is not fun in times like this. Not fun at all.

  • I made my first grilled cheese sandwich for brunch today, NG liked it, I liked it. I got the recipe from Betty Crocker. I love cheese. I will surely make that again soon. Pepperjack and Monterey Jack cheese. I'm loving it.

  • MajorDad just sent me an email if we have plans for NG's birthday, I replied saying, we'll either have lunch or dinner with him. I lovelike my father in-law and I think, it's safe to say that he likes me too. I get more emails than NG from his dad as it turns out. I told NG, that's because he doesn't reply to his emails. Hee. I can write an 18-page email [front and back..hee] and still have more to say. I am not that way in person, but when it comes to emails, I can be talkie IF I want to. MajorDad's birthday is on February 12th, he told me last year that we could celebrate our birthdays together when he found out that mine is a few days after his. We're all Aquarians. NG, MajorDad and me. I'm not knowledgeable about Astrology but it seems good from our end.

  • Keeping the faith. It may be tough once in a while but we just have to as much as we can. Have a good one. God Bless.

    COOLNESS...

    Company of Thieves

    Kevin Rudolf

    KT Tunstall

    Travis McCoy

I stumbled upon Live From Daryl's House a few days ago. It's the website of Daryl Hall. I'm not a big fan of Hall & Oates but I liked some of their songs that were played on 103.5 K-lite YEARS ago. I think, I just became a fan of Daryl because of this website. Each month, he invites a musician/band to jam in his home, you have to visit the site and watch the shows for the experience. So far, he's got 15 episodes. I've watched most of the episodes and even if you don't know the artist or not familiar with the songs, you just have to listen to it because Daryl and his band is just good. Go check it out when you have the time and let me know what you think. My favorite episodes are with: Kevin Rudolf, Company of Thieves, KT Tunstall. Have a good weekend. God Bless.
