That's Entertainment For Me...

Got the Reese W. and Prison Break issues at a Filbar's magazine stand last July outside Araneta Coliseum after watching Bench Fever...Php40 each. I limit the magazine prices I buy to Php100 each, unless, it's a special issue and that it's a must buy for me. The last original priced magazine was the one with the FRIENDS cast. There's always some exceptions. And can you resist not buying a magazine with Wentworth Miller on the cover looking like that? Heee.

Found the Entourage [I like having those issues about new shows and what not; I have yet to watch my Entourage dvd] and Jessica Alba [isn't she very pretty on the cover? and it also happens to be their annual MUST List issue, all the more reason to get the magazine yes?] issues at the stationery section of SM North Edsa. Php50 for each mag.Hoping to find these issues: LOST [it has 3 bonus covers inside, yeehaa, just like how Vanity Fair covers sometimes are...I have yet to watch the entire season 2 of LOST...] and Jen and Vince [Yeah! Team Aniston all the way!!!]

Want to have these issues, I'm excited to watch the third season of House. I'm just EXCITED to get that magazine with Patrick Dempsey on the cover. I buy them for the pictures too. Heee. Look at him!!! Hummina hummina. He's on my list now.

The EW Photo Issues...
Started in 2000. I didn't have the chance to get this one. Wish I did.

If my memory serves me right, I got this for Php100 at the grocery department store area of SM Fairview. I got lots of bargain mags fropm that area of the mall. I haven't been there in months.

The following year, I got this for the same price, from the same place.

I'm not sure if I have this one, maybe, I have to check.

I'm a Buffy fan. I have this issue. Just don't know where it is. Maybe, someone borrowed it or something. I can't remember. What I do remember is I bought this on its original price at CA Magazine. Php275 me thinks. I had extra cash at that time.

I haven't seen this issue on the bargain bins. I hope to find it someday, somewhere. Hee.

Me likey her. Hoping to find this issue sometime soon.

The Other Mags that I likey too...
Enough said on why I got this issue. Heee. Php60 at SM North Edsa Stationery Department.

Got both PEOPLE special issues somewhere along the Sta. Cruz/Carriedo magazine stands, that Friday lunchtime after the storm Milenyo. They have a variety of magazines there. I haven't asked where exactly they get their magazines. Not only they are cheaper than the ones you can find inside the mall magazine places. You can haggle. Heee. I've seen these issues at BOOKSALE for Php300++ each. At Magnet for almost Php1000 each. I got both for Php420 from the lady on the magazine stand along Carriedo. Heee. She priced it at Php350 [Sexiest Men] and Php300 [Celebrate the 90s]. I told her I'd get both for 400, she goes, 500. I told her I didn't have enough [which was true], after a few seconds, she said, sige, dagdagan mo na lang ng 20 pesos. Sold to me for Php420. Hee. I know how to haggle after all. I was smiling inside the LRT on my way home, thinking about what a bargain I got them magazines for. Yes, it's over my limit of Php100 each magazine BUT I know when I got a great buy. This was definitely one of them.

  • I guess, magazine buying is something that I can't totally stop. Yes, I have lessened it thru the years and I'm pretty proud of that. But whenever I see a bargain magazine bin, I can't help but check it out, hoping to find something that I might like. Hee. Not like I buy one every time I pass by a bin. Just when I like who's on the cover and if the price is right for me. That's the most important thing. Price then who's on the cover. Then the content. I didn't know I had a criteria in buying magazines.
  • Back in the day, on weekends, I would go to Mrs. G's workplace at that time, she would let me look at her weekly magazine purchase. EW, People, US, Vanity Fair, you name it, she probably has it. Hee. I look at pictures mostly. And when I like a particular issue I just make a mental note to get it when I saw in on Booksale or Filbars. I will always be grateful for those magazine peeks Mrs. G. Thanks. Those were the days yes? Good times.
  • I can consider my [sometimes] magazine-buying a vice that I can control. I don't smoke. I drink when there's a Vodka Session [which is not as frequent as it used to be...I wonder why...heee...]. I don't gamble. [even if I wish to win the lottery, I still don't bet...maybe, I should start betting? There's always quite a long line for the lottery. Don't have the patience on that aspect.] I'm good at staying away from vices and what not that might be bad for me. I just keep in mind, to not start something that I might have a tough time getting out of. Hmmm. Is that deep or what? Heee.
  • Today is Friday the 13th...do you believe that it's an unlucky day? I stopped thinking that it was years and years ago. I'm not superstitious like that. It's all in the mind. You'd have good days. You'd have bad days. And it happens any other day. Be it a Friday the 13th or a Friday the 20th. Doesn't matter. I keep in mind that God is above and beyond about anything that happens in my live. I just gotta trust in Him and keep the faith.
  • As for my own Friday the 13th, it was a good one. After a crappy Thursday at work, my Friday was goody at work. Thank you God. My prayers worked again. 22 months with NG as well. Been a little toughie the last few months. The distance sucks. But we just have to do what we can to make it work if we really want to make it work yes? He's the positive, I'm the sometimes-negative. A positive and a negative makes what? A positive right? Yikes, I don't remember my Math. Though, it's a good feeling that he's very positive inspite of my sometimes negativity. I'm keeping my faith. Sigh. It's not easy being in a long-distance relationship. Sometimes, you wonder, why two people from different areas of the world meet and all...if you want the romantic view, it must be fate. I don't know. Accidental meeting? Oh well, I do know one thing, wouldn't trade the past 22 months with NG for a non-NG 22 months. Did that make sense? I must go for now. I think, I'm developing a headache.
  • May we all have a fine weekend. I'm Vikkicar and I'm keeping my faith. God Bless.

    Will always be my FRIENDS...

  • OH...MY...GOD!!! Had a crappy day at work and seeing this cheered me up. I'm now thinking on how to get a copy of this said calendar. I got my copy of the 2006 calendar via a friend of Dino's who was staying in London last year.
  • Hmmm. Now, how to get the 2007 calendar. I could order it online but I don't have a credit card. Sheesh. I know, it's just a calendar to some. BUT for me [and a handful of my friends] this is like...THE calendar to have. Hee. Anyhoo, just wanted to share my joy in seeing this calendar. I'm cheered by my FRIENDS. SIGH. I wish I live in London baby.
  • Oh btw, the images are from Danilo.com....you can order your calendars from that site as well.
  • FRIENDS...is and will always be there for me. Can't top that.
  • Keep the faith and God Bless.

    Truly a Blessing...

    Tita Tess turned 60...

There were 60 candle holders...each guest lit and blew that candle and wished something for Tita Tess. 60 wishes...that's a lot...and I'm pretty sure the people who didn't make it there wished something for her too.

    The candle holders/souvenirs up close.

Didn't get to taste the cake but it looked nice. I did get to taste the yummy food that was on the buffet table. Yummy carbonara. Yummy grilled blue marlin. Yummy chicken something. Yummy roastbeef something. Yummy potato slices. Yummy mango desert. Yummy yummy indeed.

Mr. & Mrs. G., my ride to and from the venue. Appreciated. As always.

    Doctora and Me.

I was wondering what the small glass half-filled with water was for, then Mrs. G. answered my wondering by putting the candle inside and lighting it. That was what it's for. Doink for me. Heee.

    Mann and Doctora.

Mann, Doctora, Mrs. G., Tita Tess, Me, Paolo and Mr. G.

    Gifts galore for Tita Tess.

I didn't count them but I'm guessing they are 60 white roses.

Doctora and Mrs. G...with their flowers. Hee.

  • I wish and pray that when I turn 60, I'd be half as good-hearted as Tita Tess. It's nice knowing that you've touched someone else's life in a positive way. That you've inspired someone. That you made someone felt important. That you made someone smile. That you made someone more faithful to God. That you made someone happy. That you were there for someone. Like what Earl J. Hickey [from My Name Is Earl] would always say: Do good things and good things will happen to you. I agree with that 101%.
  • Have a fine day, afternoon, evening to you. Keep the faith. God Bless.

Of Blessings, NG and TV land...

A birthday shout-out to Tita Tess, one of the most generous person I know. Happy Happy Happy Birthday Tita Tess. You're one of the many blessings in my life. [this picture was taken last year at Bellini's, Tita and Dino's belated birthday dinner treat.]

I started watching my Coupling dvd last week and watched it every night or day [whatever the time may be...heee], just finished the last episode earlier. I used to catch some episodes a few years back on StarWorld. The show aired on BBC from 2000-2004. I may not have understood some of the words they used but the show is really funny. I found myself laughing. I MISS FRIENDS!!! I'm now back to watching My Name Is Earl, I started watching it 2 weeks ago. I'm half-way through. Another funny show. I &hearts Jason Lee.
Here are a few quotes from Coupling:
  • Jane: Friendship's more lasting than love, and more legal than stalking.
  • Sally: [Trying to explain to Patrick what platonic friendship with a woman is] What do you call people you go out with but don't try to sleep with?
    Patrick: Men
  • Sally: I hate having sex at home. I've got a listening flatmate.
Jane: Oh no, I hate those. Do you have to be really quiet for her?
Sally: No, I have to be really loud. We're very competitive.
  • Jane: I'm being stalked, actually, so I'm pretty secure in my attractiveness.
    Susan: You're being stalked?
Jane: Is that so hard to believe?
    Sally: My god!
Jane: Everyday on my way home from work, a man follows me. It's true.
Susan: Well, have you been to the police?
Jane: They said I was being silly and paranoid. I heard them laughing after I left.
    Sally: That's terrible!
Susan: Well, have you confronted the man who follows you?
Jane: Well, there's no point, is there? It's never the same man twice. Sometimes they switch over when I'm halfway home. It's so well organized!
  • Steve: Look, it is not physically possible for a man to know what a woman wants. Which is very unfair. Because you always know what we want.
Patrick: Yeah, because we always have the common decency to only ever want one thing. And do you ever thank us for making it so simple? Never.
  • Sally: Bottoms are our natural enemy... They follow us around our entire lives, right behind us, and constantly growing. How do they do that? I'm sure mine's back there secretly snacking.
  • Jane: I really quite like being single. Except for the bit about not having a man.

  • Last Sunday, I asked NG to look directly on cam and smile...he did...I captured it...he doesn't like the pic, says it's pixelized and what not, he actually doesn't like looking at pics of him...since this is my blog, I can post it...I am posting it...heee...can you see the stuff on the background? that has been there since he moved to that house...that has been months ago...and it's still there...those boxes are glued to the floor... it gets to me every time I see it on cam [weekends] but I can't do much about it...whenever [he works everyday, he has a weekend and a weekday job...] he has a dayoff, I offer that it be a dayoff for us too, so, he can put those boxed items away...but he won't have it...he'd say he'd rather talk to me than to deal with those boxes...grrrrr moment right? My vote goes to putting away those boxes. Who's with me? If only I could send her Monica Geller, I would. Hee.
  • It's the second week now that the mails with NG has been on hold. I decided on it until I get something from him that should have been in my possession months ago. That issue has resulted off moments for us. I can't explain why it's taking this long for me to have those pictures. [I'm even blogging about it NOW!!!] I love the mails, it was my decision to freeze them, and knowing him, it might take a while before we get back to having our daily dose of 20++ mails. He said it'll be fixed. He keeps saying sorry. I sometimes don't like that word anymore. He said we'll have the mails back soon. How soon is now? I don't like being sad and frustrated about those pictures but it does, unfortunately, get me that way.
  • May you all have a fine weekend. Keep the faith. God Bless.

    Thirty-3...

Today is my parent's 33rd anniversary...I know, my parents do some things that I will never agree with but that doesn't change the fact that I respect them with the highest regard. And 33 years. Wow. That's just 3 years older than me. I wonder, will I be fortunate enough to be with someone for that long period of time? Who knows? Would be nice to grow old with someone yes? I remember, when we were younger, my parents had a fight, my mother went to the province with my brother, leaving us girls with my father. I was too young to know or understand what they fought about. I still don't know up to now. I don't really wanna know me thinks. I always pray that they be in good health and all that. Indeed.

Is it just me or do you have a not-so-easy-time saying [or keep on telling someone] I love you??? Eventhough, you feel it, saying it, is not that easy...well, at least for me...and when someone says that they love you, do you believe them? I hope that the people I tell I &hearts you to, believe me whenever I tell them that, I do, love them ... the image is from Post Secret btw.

  • Be safe. Keeping the faith here. God Bless us always.
